Check Mate 斜裁背心

I washed this cold and hung it to dry like the tag says, and the cotton weave came out soft with no shrinking at all. Knowing it's made from deadstock fabric in NYC makes it feel like a small win every time I wear it.

The checkerboard pattern is even better in person, and the cotton has a nice crisp feel that softens up after the first hand wash. It’s cut on the bias so it drapes just right without clinging, and knowing it’s deadstock makes me feel a little less guilty about shopping.

I’ve washed it twice by hand and it’s held its shape perfectly, which is rare for a woven cotton. The bias cut makes it drape nicely without clinging, and I love that it’s made from leftover fabric—feels good knowing the waste is minimized.
